Weed of the week: Squarrose Knapweed

  • Flowers: pink, less than ½ inch in diameter with downward curving spines
  • Leaves: lower ones are long with many narrow lobes
  • Stems: 3 ft. tall, many branches
  • Reproduction: seeds, re-sprouts from deep taproot
  • Problems: invades & dominates range, especially dry sites
