- Flowers: Purple, up to 1” in diameter, spiny green bracts
- Leaves: Dark green, up to 1’ long narrow, spine-tipped lobes with small hairs and bumps
- Stems: up to 5 feet tall
- Reproduction: seeds
- Problems: invades range and degrades wildlife habitat
