Weed of the week: Bull or Spear Thistle

  • Flowers: Purple, up to 1” in diameter, spiny green bracts
  • Leaves: Dark green, up to 1’ long narrow, spine-tipped lobes with small hairs and bumps
  • Stems: up to 5 feet tall
  • Reproduction: seeds
  • Problems: invades range and degrades wildlife habitat
