Weed of the week: Scotch Thistle

  • Flowers: purple, up to 2” in diameter with spiny red-tipped bracts
  • Leaves: covered in white cob-webby hairs, up to 2’ long, spines along edges
  • Stems: up to 9’ tall with fins
  • Reproduction: seeds
  • Problems: invades rangeland, degrades wildlife habitat
